What a hard life! I know Cindy and this memoir has brought "new light" to my understanding of her and her past. Cindy's personality has blossomed since writing her story. I highly recommend this book.

I bought the book and I finished it today. What an amazing memoir! My daughter read the book and she said it is a great book! It takes a lot of courage to express her personal life to the public. Surely, the content will help many people through their struggles in life. I hope this book will become well-known to many people and help them!

I found that the book not only gave me a better understanding of the author's past, but also the perils a child from another country faces as she tries to make a new country her home. I was moved by the hardships the author faced and found myself praying for her as I read the book. A very strong and truthful look at the turmoil this young girl faced as she searched for her place in society, her self worth and her God. Well done Cindy.

I found this to be well written and easy to read. It is nice to learn about someone else and their history. How often we form opinions of others without ever taking the time to find out who they are and what they have faced. I enjoyed learning about a different culture.

Cindy's writing is very candid and heart wrenching as I followed the small girl through early childhood, a debilitating illness that eluded answers, and tremendous adjustments as she came to America. Her heart was crushed, but her hopes never dashed, as she pressed onward for answers. She demonstrates a very tenacious spirit, a sure faith in her God, and determination to keep moving forward. This book enhances understanding of the struggles that those from other cultures meet and overcome as they integrate into a different society. I came away appreciating her strength, faith and courage in the face of great obstacles. This book will encourage anyone who may feel that life is too much to bear.
